Grosset Wines

by chris

Grosset Wines is an independently owned winery producing seven highly regarded premium wines each vintage.

Jeffrey Grosset was voted the inaugural Australian Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller WINE in 1998, and is internationally recognised as one of the ‘Top 10 White Winemakers’ (Decanter, UK) and one of the ‘50 Most Influential Winemakers’ (Wine & Spirits, USA) in the world today.

Grosset v2.0 Theme

Grosset Wines has been using WordPress as a Content Management System for their website, the last two years. The first theme templates designed and built were considered mobile friendly and accessible at the time, but much has changed since. The Internet is rapidly becoming more mobile. According to KPCB’s annual Internet Trends report, there are now 1.5 billion mobile users worldwide, up from 1.1 billion last year. Today, being mobile friendly isn’t enough. We need to be mobile responsive. A mobile responsive design is a method of developing a site that is completely flexible, regardless of the device you are using.

WordPress Twenty Twelve theme proves to be an excellent base to developing child themes for a responsive website. The Grosset v2.0 Theme utilities the responsive design, flexibility and minimalist styling of Twenty Twelve to produce a look which embodies Grosset Wines branding. Grosset v2.0 Theme’s CSS is very light weight and finds the balance between functionality and delivering an unique feel.

In addition, with the combination of WordPress 3.5, Twenty Twelve and plugins, the client has much more flexibility and control over their own site. They have access to the Menus, Backgrounds and Slider.

The site was tested by Nibbler Silktide before and after the application of the new responsive Grosset v2.0 Theme. The results were pleasing.
